According to the herons at this rookery, here are 'Rules to Love by'. ;-)

1. Dance as though no one is watching

2. Love as if you've never been hurt

3. Vibrant conversation keeps a relationship thriving

4. “You don't love someone for their looks, or their clothes, or for their fancy car, but because they sing a song only you can hear” Oscar Wilde

5. Bring a stick home to show you want to build a nest together

Our meeting challenge images

For (More Regular) Comment

Here are selected photos from earlier this week.  They seem to "fit together" but beyond that, there is as yet no project I have in mind for them.

I'm interested in any feedback. Including "if only you had....." - These are just a representative handful from >150 shots - The church windows alone had me shooting like crazy (imagine, choir practice was happening inside, and so the MUSIC alone was beautiful)

For Comment

In the spirit of exploring further one of our topics from last year - "art beyond the walls" - I took a fascinating bookbinding class at the Tennessee State Museum at the end of January. The instructor was a gifted, renown, local bookbinder - Mary Louise Sullivan from crowinghensbindery https://www.crowinghensbindery.com/.  She overestimated how much a class could accomplish in a day. Our workshop was scheduled to go from 9am-4pm, but even though we got the museum's approval to stick around until 5pm, we were only able to do 90% of the binding.

Nevertheless, it was super fun and inspirational.  And luckily I was able to find a book on the subject, so perhaps I'll manage to finish my first book someday.

Our Tools
And an example of a simple book we could have made.....
(the small yellow notebook)

Our books were to have pockets and a pencil holder, as well as a clasp
......you can also see the edges of the six signatures we bound into the book

You can see here the gorgeous endpapers.

Here's the book I actually can recommend, which might help me complete the project.

For Comment - Moonshadows

I'm a little blown away with these two images, not because they are great art, but because of the detail I am getting with my new phone.  I traded in my old 8+ iphone for the new 14 pro max in January.  The camera is amazing.

Last night, around midnight, I was going to bed and looked out the window as I was closing the drapes.  We had a full moon (the snow moon) and I was caught by the shadow of the large tree in my front yard.  For the heck of it, I put my phone to the window and shot the picture you see below.  I was amazed by the detail (check out the stars behind the trees).... particularly since the window wasn't all that pristine.

Then I went back to the bonus room and took the shot below shooting toward the barn.  A little better detail through a cleaner window.  Again.... notice you can see the stars here too.

For Comment--February Meeting:

RAINY DAY AT THE BEACH

As one who really enjoys the beach, I find there are lots and lots of photos to be taken of "non-typical" beach scenes. This was one of those times. Rain clouds had descended on Cape San Blas and driven everyone indoors. So I was left to "explore"  what I could see from the balcony of our rental house. I had to look for colors, shapes, mood, textures, etc.

For Comment - Still have power!

It got a little dicey early on when it was coming down as freezing rain, but then it changed to sleet and no longer sticking to tree limbs.
